New Project Opportunities
May 5, 2023From a dream to reality: the origin story of Friends of KDH
May 22, 2023Let's join forces for a shared mission
We established “Friends of KDH,” a not for profit company (NPC), with the purpose of offering additional care and support to patients and staff at Khayelitsha District Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa.
The hospital is a lifeline to residents in Khayelitsha and surrounding areas, many of whom are impoverished, aged, or limited by disabilities. Due to budgetary and capacity constraints, many of the elements of care that make a hospital a warm place of safety, healing and wholeness are not able to be rendered. This is to the detriment of both patient experiences and frustration of hospital staff.
“Friends of KDH” works to ensure that patients and staff at the hospital are treated in a way that recognises their dignity and humanity, by:
- Equipping and improving facilities to elevate patient care, hospital hygiene standards and treatment outcomes.
- Capacity-building interventions for hospital staff which will improve ability to offer compassionate, skilled care to all patients.
- Improving the accessibility of training, mentorship, role modelling and development resources to hospital staff.
“Friends of KDH” will be a portal through which projects, volunteers, donations and “dreams” can be supported, and goals achieved.
As a Registered entity with strict accountability, we would love you to partner with us in bring compassionate care and cutting-edge medicine to the people of Khayelitsha.
