There was great excitement in February when @InovaPharmaceuticals donated R6 500 000 worth of vitamins for pregnant women to Friends of KDH! What a blessing for the Khayelitsha community and beyond.
We received so many boxes of Preg Omega Plus - thanks to a contact from @thulababaproject - that we had no room to stash them all; we were grateful for support from @compactsa who handled and stored the vitamins for us.
Having distributed these top-class antenatal vitamins to all the women in Khayelitsha District Hospital’s Maternity Unit - everyone in both the clinic and the wards were able to receive at least 2 months’ supply - there were still more to go around…so we were able to share the love and delivered boxes to:
-
Site B Clinic Khayelitsha
-
Michael M Clinic Khayelitsha
-
New Somerset Hospital Antenatal Clinic
-
Mowbray Maternity Hospital
-
The Zoe Project
-
Thula Baba Project
Friends of KDH Board Member, Tembisa Panziso, bumped into a pregnant woman in the Khayelitsha community, who told her what a difference these vitamins made: she had been feeling so sick, vomiting and not eating, but the vitamins gave her energy and made her feel better. Tembisa also received feedback from staff at the Site B Clinic, who reported that the vitamins were very effective and made a real difference.
What a successful collaboration and example of how teamwork really helps spread the love - our heartfelt thanks to Inova Pharmaceuticals for their generosity. This wonderful story exemplifies one of the reasons Friends of KDH was formed: to be a conduit for impactful donations into the hospital.
