Katie Christie-Wade - Chairperson
Kate is a passionate midwife who has established maternity units and trained midwives across Africa. With experience in independent practice, midwife training, and mentorship, she has contributed to research projects and worked at Khayelitsha District Hospital. Now, through 'Friends of KDH,' Kate returns with fresh enthusiasm to nurture partnerships and resources that will help support patient care in the hospital and its surrounding community.
Jean Alfeld - Secretary
Jean is a dedicated Career Development professional with over 30 years of experience in empowering individuals and fostering personal and professional growth. With a Masters in Counselling Psychology and a background in education, Jean actively contributes to Cape Town's development sector; she has worked with NPOs, the University of Cape Town and the Mastercard Foundation's scholarship program as well as serving on the board of the Nika Foundation.
Sabelo Mbolompo - Board Member
Sabelo serves on the Khayelitsha District Hospital Facility Board. During his five years as a City of Cape Town Municipal Council member he honed his skills in community engagement and stakeholder management through involvement in various community structures and organisations. He recently completed an Honour's degree at Stellenbosch University and is currently pursuing a MBA. In addition to his community work, Sabelo runs his own successful construction plant-hiring business, which he established a decade ago.
Tembisa Panziso - Board Member
Tembisa is a passionate chef and event caterer, but her true calling lies in community development. Motivated by this passion, she pursued further training to acquire skills for the non-profit sector. In 2016, Tembisa founded the "Sakha Ingomso Foundation For Young Girls," an NPO aimed at empowering underprivileged girls. Since 2016, Tembisa has also served as Deputy Chairperson for the Khayelitsha District Hospital Board. Now, she brings her community knowledge and vision to enhance the "Friends of KDH" team.
Andre Botha - Treasurer
Andre is a seasoned accountant who qualified in South Africa in 1987. With a successful career spanning decades, he has held partnership roles in accounting services in Cape Town. He also had a three-year stint as the Chief Financial Officer at a Waste Recycling Company. Andre is a member of prestigious organizations such as the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SA) and the South African Institute of Tax Practitioners. He is also a registered Tax Practitioner.
